Hot Az Hell Turns Up The Heat With Bernard's Dura-Flux
 |
Converting to Bernard's Dura-Flux gun dramatically reduced burnbacks and increased productivity for Hot Az Hell Welding and Fabrication. |
It’s hot in the Arizona desert, and if you’re driving U.S. Highway 60 or the Hoover Dam Kingman Highway, you might be able to point out your window and say, “It’s Hot Az Hell!” Hot Az Hell Welding and Fabrication, that is.
Making a particularly colorful name for themselves over the last three years, Hot Az Hell Welding and Fabrication has become the contractor of choice for handrail fabrication in Central Arizona.
Willing to tackle nearly any welding project that comes their way—including welding together five railroad cars to build a bridge over the Central Arizona Project Canal—Hot Az Hell recently made the switch from Stick to flux-cored welding in order to improve their productivity. However, the company’s owner, Shawn Moreland, immediately began encountering multiple burnbacks and birdnests per day, negating the benefits promised by the flux-cored process.
Moreland’s welding ace, Chris Rice, recognized that the problem wasn’t the process or his welding technique, but the flux-cored gun that Moreland was using. They tried out Bernard’s Dura-Flux™ gun and didn’t experience a single burnback or birdnest for the rest of the job.
“We just threw the other gun away,” Moreland said. “After I got a chance to use Chris’ gun, I was 100 percent sold on Bernard.”
